Let People Disappoint You — Carl Jung

Big Ideas82%

12:52-13:27Because many people do not want truth. They want comfort that protects identity. And truth is dangerous to the ego. Especially when someone has spent years constructing a personality around victimhood, superiority, innocence or control. If reality threatens that self-image, most people will distort reality before they abandon the identity. That's why accountability feels so rare. Not because humans are incapable of reflection, because reflection often requires ego death. And ego death feels psychologically violent.
